Sound Word privacy policy

Updated 5 October 2026. Sound Word is a reading practice app by Jake Heading. This policy describes the app itself; websites opened outside the app have their own privacy practices.

No developer data collection

Sound Word does not collect or send personal information, usage analytics, advertising identifiers or reading progress to the developer. It has no account, advertising, tracking, third-party analytics, cloud progress service or in-app purchases. It does not record speech or request microphone, camera or location access.

Saved progress

The app stores the current letter board, selected and completed letters, score, elapsed practice time, letter-case and sound preferences, and tutorial completion locally in its own app storage. It uses this information to restore practice on that device. It is not sent to the developer.

Apple backups and diagnostics

Apple may include app data in device backups depending on your settings. Backup restoration and any diagnostics you choose to share with Apple are handled by Apple under its policies. Sound Word does not implement its own backup or syncing service.

Removing local data

To remove the app’s local data, delete the app rather than offload it. Existing device backups are managed separately through Apple’s settings.

Sound and external websites

Sound effects are bundled with the app and play on the device. There is no speech recording or audio upload.

The contact website opens outside Sound Word after a grown-up check. The website and browser may process information under their own privacy practices, including ordinary web requests and information you choose to send using a contact form or email. Sound Word does not send its saved practice data to that website.

These support and privacy pages do not include analytics scripts or forms. Other pages on mrheading.au may have their own website features and privacy practices.
